In 2024, California passed AB 2013, which requires developers of generative AI systems to disclose information about the training data they used. The law is currently scheduled to go into effect on January 1, 2026.
This question will resolve to true if AB 2013 goes into effect, and false if it does not—for example if AB 2013 is repealed, preempted by a federal law, or if a court decision prohibits the state from enforcing it.
