I got a starting list of cities from Wikipedia but we can add more on request.

The city needs to be identified as the "permanent" home city for a team. It can be a new team (expansion) or an existing team (relocation).

The city must have zero teams for the 2024 season.

Resolves Yes after the team plays one game in their new city. It's okay if the team's name does not match the city exactly. And if the stadium itself is in a suburb, that also counts for the larger metro name.

The team must 'permanently' move to that city for the 2031 season or earlier. If they don't play any games there before October 2031, then it will resolve No, even if they plan to move there in 2032.

As of the time of writing, the Oakland Athletics are in the process of moving from Oakland to Las Vegas. I want to ask the same question about these cities, but some special notes need to be made:

  • Las Vegas WILL count if the Athletics actually move there. But it is rumored that they will use a temporary home location for some years until a permanent stadium is built. This option will resolve Yes if their temporary stadium is in Las Vegas for a season, or when their move to Vegas is complete and they start playing in their permanent stadium. If they never *actually* move to Vegas, it will not resolve Yes (unless some other team does...).

  • Oakland is listed even though they do actually have the Athletics in 2024. If the Athletics play in Oakland every season through 2031, this option resolves N/A instead of No/Yes. If the Athletics leave Oakland for 1 season then come back to Oakland as their permanent home, resolves Yes. If the Athletics use Oakland as a temporary home for 1 or more seasons while still trying to move to Las Vegas, this will not resolve Yes. The primary intention is to ask about a new team moving to Oakland after the Athletics leave. If things get too weird we can N/A it.
