Fish Welfare Initiative is a startup organization whose mission is to improve the welfare of fish as much as possible. They focus specifically on farmed fish, i.e., fish raised in aquaculture. They collaborate with corporations, governments, and producers to improve fish welfare standards and practices with a simple broad approach: researching the most promising ways of improving fish welfare, and then enabling stakeholders to do so. Following their initial research, their team now partners with NGOs to help farmers introduce higher welfare farming methods in the second-highest fish producing country in the world, India. As of December 30 2022, they have potentially helped 1.14 and 1.4 million fish and shrimp respectively, with every $1 potentially helping 1.3 fish and every $100 13 fish.
