Resolution is based on annual JetBrains Python Developer Survey results. Market resolves to the year the survey was conducted when uv usage percentage exceeds Poetry's usage percentage on at least one of the following questions:
"Which of the following tools do you use to isolate Python environments between projects?"
"Which tools do you use to manage dependencies?"
"Which tools do you use to create packages of your Python libraries?"
Market resolves "Later or never" if uv hasn't overtaken Poetry in the 2028 survey. The extra year the market stays open is time for JetBrains to publish the results. Market resolves N/A if JetBrains stops conducting surveys for more than one year or the packaging questions are removed for more than one year.
The questions can be rephrased as long as they are substantially the same. I will use my judgement to compare phrasing and won't trade in this market for fairness. uv must be actually listed. "Other" overtaking Poetry is not going to count.
In the 2023 survey, Poetry got 18% for Python environment isolation, 19% for dependency management, and 33% for library packaging; uv wasn't listed for any of the questions. There was one link to "Uv - another Rust tool written to replace Pip".
