Currently the USA and China are racing to put a person on the Moon. Obviously, the USA has done it before, but this is a new race so those landings don't count.
The question is whether China and the USA will each succeed in putting a person on the Moon in the same year. E.g. China gets there in 2029, then the USA also gets there in 2029.
