Who will be the next person elected to the speakership? For it to count, this person must be elected to the speakership by a vote of the whole house.
Anyone can add names to this list. The option labeled "other" is just the placeholder for other answers that might be added to this market later. Anyone can add a new name, however, names that are spam or nonsense are subject to disqualification by me.
@TheAllMemeingEye Yes, however, there must be an actual election. For example, if the rules of the House were changed so that "If the previous speaker is re-elected to the House, the previous Speaker shall take the chair of the House as Speaker" and Mike Johnson became speaker that way, that would not count.
@TheAllMemeingEye Re-election counts, however, there has to be an actual election. Mike Johnson (or anyone for that matter) becoming speaker by virtue of the rules or procedures of the House and without a vote of the full House to elect that person as Speaker does not count.
@TheAllMemeingEye I just realized what you meant by my first and second statements contradicting each other. I meant that if the rules of the House were changed so that "If the previous speaker is re-elected to the House, the previous Speaker shall take the chair of the House as Speaker" and Mike Johnson became speaker that way, that would not count. I have now edited my comment accordingly.
