At least some work must have started and project must be funded and on track

Part of the bridge must be east or south of Nanaimo. It can connect us to Canada or Canada to Canada, as long as it's the island connected to the mainland. Using islands to hop is okay as long as there is a full connection.

You'll be able to travel above water not flying between the countries.

And is this question specifically about bridges? What about an underwater tunnel? I’ve seen the phrase “fixed link” used to speak to the different types of permanent infrastructure to allow transportation.

@Nikos it has to be above the water.

@Nikos it's been a bit hard to qualify it since I don't want to exclude other future possibilities but at least road, train, and pedestrian bridges count.

There are no fixed bridges in existence today that would meet the conditions present in Georgia Strait.

So not impossible, but it has some pretty challenging conditions currently. And not that much economic benefit?
