While we're talking about them I also think we should make them way more specific. Not "Putin" but "Putin Succession" etc. Rather than nouns, cover a concern or an event.

I think tags is most logical but agree being the leader of a tag is kind of lame. Groups makes little sense now.

@Ernie Should be both, with a hierarchical system. Adding "putin succession" to a market should automatically add it to "putin" as well.

Tags is too generic.

"I'm the top trader on the Congress tag" - lame, doesn't sound like a flex

"I'm the top trader on the Congress topic" - actually sounds like you did something

@DanMan314 I think "categories" also works for that.

@IsaacKing agreed

Do you mean, "What should they be called?" or "What should I refer to them as when making a market about them?" Since they're currently called topics, that would be the best thing to refer to them as.

they're currently called topics

Internally they're still groups: https://docs.manifold.markets/api

@JosephNoonan I'm assuming the question is about what the website itself ought to call the concept?

I want to know what to call them on my trading dashboard. Ideally I'd match whatever Manifold does, but right now it's inconsistent and may change again.

@IsaacKing is it inconsistent? it's supposed to be "topics" everywhere in UI right now. API should ideally not change in input/output format so it doesn't count

@Sinclair I agree that the API shouldn't change frequently while Manifold is trying out different names, that would be very annoying. Once a final name is decided upon, I think the API should change to that name. A single breaking change is not a big deal in the current paradigm.
