Resolution criteria:

This market will resolve to "Yes" if the Pope is elected as the Prime Minister of Canada following the 2025 Canadian federal election. The market will resolve to "No" if the Pope is not elected as Prime Minister.

Background:

The 2025 Canadian federal election is scheduled to take place on or before October 20, 2025, to elect members of the House of Commons to the 45th Canadian Parliament. (en.chped.com) The Prime Minister of Canada is typically the leader of the political party that wins the most seats in the House of Commons.

Considerations:

The Pope, as the head of the Roman Catholic Church and the sovereign of Vatican City, is not a Canadian citizen and does not reside in Canada. Canadian law requires that candidates for the House of Commons be Canadian citizens. Additionally, the Pope has not announced any intention to run for political office in Canada. Given these factors, the likelihood of the Pope becoming the Prime Minister of Canada is extremely low.
