Resolution Criteria:
The market will resolve as "Yes" if:
Any officially scheduled presidential or vice presidential debate is canceled due to the Republican candidate's non-participation AND
The debate is replaced with a solo interview or town hall featuring only the Democratic candidate (either Kamala Harris or Tim Walz) on the same network and timeslot originally planned for the debate
The market will resolve as "No" if:
All scheduled debates occur with both candidates present OR
Any canceled debates are not replaced with a solo Democratic candidate interview/town hall
The market will resolve as "Invalid" if:
All debates are canceled for reasons other than Republican non-participation (e.g., natural disasters, national emergencies)
Resolution Sources:
Official announcements from the Commission on Presidential Debates
Statements from major news networks hosting the debates (e.g., ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, Fox News)
Public statements from the campaigns of both candidates
Closing Date:
This market will close for trading on November 5, 2024 (Election Day), or when the last scheduled debate or its replacement event occurs, whichever comes first.Additional Notes:
This market applies to all officially scheduled presidential and vice presidential debates for the 2024 election
The solo interview or town hall must be a direct replacement for a canceled debate, not a separate event
The specific format (interview vs. town hall) is not relevant for resolution, only that it features the Democratic candidate alone
