Will I still feel that it is important to protect my social security number (SSN) in 2050?

Some ways I can see my SSN becoming unimportant:

Identity theft no longer feasible/profitable

US moves to a different identification system

i'm guessing if this happens ^ then, "US moves to a different identification system (than our current SSN)" before 2051 will probably happen.

or if such a website (referred to in the linked market) has your SSN, when testing it on yourself, will protection of your SSN become unimportant to you at that moment/resolve this no?

The US moving to a different identification system completely will likely lead to this resolving No. A SSN finding website alone is probably not enough

Cool thanks. Would you still feel it’s important to protect your own number even if you were to stumble upon such a website and you input your name and it returns your accurate SSN?

Unsure. An obscure website having my SSN publicly doesn't mean I want to just give up on protecting my SSN.

sold Ṁ320 NO

okay cool thank you 🫡

SSN is fine as an identifier. It's when some idiot of a company (or gov dept!) acts as though it's a secret that it becomes a problem.

@DanHomerick agree! Will this issue be solved by 2050? I sure hope so
