Feel free to add more responses!! i.e. if there's any Pokémon you think might gain a new Mega Evolution upon the release of Pokémon Legends: Z-A, an upcoming game which is confirmed to have Megas.
If that new Mega Evolution is present on the game's release day (or is announced before then), that option will resolve YES.
(EDIT: To clarify, for a Mega to resolve YES: by the end of Release Day, it must be in the game (either via the base game or a Day-1 patch) OR already officially announced to be coming to the game sometime later. Otherwise, it will resolve NO.)
(EDIT 2: "in the game" primarily refers to "either its 3d model is present, or its Mega Stone is directly obtainable (which implies that it almost certainly WILL be coming)". Learnset and stats (without a visual of the creature) wouldn't be enough. also lol i hate how the "AI summary of creator comment" thing summarized my points wrong, why is it here)
For any "...again" options, that Pokémon would have to receive a NEW additional Mega Evolution (e.g. a hypothetical "Mega Charizard Z", for instance).
@traders - To clarify:
...in keeping with the original resolution criteria I listed at the outset (which state that "If that new Mega Evolution is present on the game's release day (or is announced before then), that option will resolve YES.") — for a Mega (like Mega Zeraora for instance) to resolve as a YES, it would have to be either in the game on Release Day (either already in the base game, or present in a Day-1 patch) OR already officially announced before the end of Release Day (like, the official company saying "Look out for Mega Zeraora in 6 months!" etc)
So, if (by the end of release day) a certain Mega (like Mega Zeraora) isn't in the game and [Game Freak / The Pokémon Company / Nintendo / Creatures Inc.] hasn't officially announced it's coming later, then it'd resolve NO.
@PaintspotInfez what does ‘in the game’ mean?
Eg:
a model or learnset can be data mined, but it isn’t functional
the mega evolved pokemon is fully present in the code, but accessing it isn’t possible until a later date due to the mega stone’s absence
the mega stone is accessible, but the base Pokemon is inaccessible until a later date (via event, DLC, or Pokemon Bank)
@OP ...Honestly, a really hard question with a lot of nuance!
I'd say if a 3d model is present in the game files, it counts as YES (so — in the "fully present but accessing isn't possible until later" scenario — if the 3d model is viewable, then that's a YES),
or if that mon's specific Mega Stone item is directly obtainable in-game (like, something openly named Zeraorite or something like that), then that'd count as a YES as well (as it's, essentially, official confirmation that the Mega 100%-certainly will become available at a later date).
...Like, if it's something similar to "Mega Latias/Latios having their models appear early in XY's game files before they debuted for real", then it would count as YES,
...but if it's just mentioned in the files (akin to "the fact that a planned convergent line based on Magikarp/Gyarados was mentioned in the index of pkmn codenames in SV's game files"), then I wouldn't count that as a YES (exemplified by the fact that, for instance, that convergent Magikarp-inspired line — actively mentioned in the game's code — was replaced by a Tentacool-inspired line, Toedscool)
@PaintspotInfez that’s helpful. Just for avoidance of doubt, what about where learnset/stats/etc present, but model not?
I don’t have strong views either way, but best to hash out the technicalities before people drop mana on it.
Oh, also, it’s unclear how accessible data mining will be. If the games aren’t able to be datamined, will you extend until they are, or resolve based on our knowledge as at release?
@OP Ah, the "learnset/stats/etc present, but model not" scenario is the scenario I'm the least sure about what to do with.
I feel like a complex fully-designed 3d model being present in the game files is slightly more indicative of "this WILL be added (and won't be scrapped)" than a learnset or stats. ...Like, for instance, during the Teraleak, we found out that early draft versions of XY had a Mega Jynx planned before being scrapped: with (to my knowledge:) moves, stats, a cry, and concept art present — but the one thing there wasn't, was a 3d model.
So, I honestly really don't know what to do about the "learnset-and-stats are present but the model isn't" issue — but in that situation I feel like there has to be (bare minimum) a visual component for it to count. So, "learnset+moves but NO sprite" probably would be a no.
And, it'd be primarily based on "knowledge obtained by the end of Release Day" — but (while trading will close right before the big public Release Day,) I'll wait at least a week before resolving any edge-cases (since, knowing the Pokémon community, I feel like it'd take less than a week for dataminers to confirm whether there's another intact Mega hidden in the Day 1 game files).
Alleged leak that claims to be a complete list of all 26 new Mega Evolutions:

I've added a few, but I don't feel like spending a bunch of mana to add all of them. If someone else is interested, have at it.

Notable is that Zeraora is now missing from the list. The article speculates it might mean it's going to be cut from the base game and maybe included in a later update or DLC.
@PaintspotInfez you might want to get ahead of this and clarify whether these markets will resolve "yes" if the mega is not included with the base game but is included with an update afterwards (including a possible day-1 update like Pokémon BDSP got).
@Kronopath Thanks!! In keeping with the original rules I listed at the outset, for a Mega like Mega Zeraora to resolve as a YES, it would have to be either in the game on Release Day (either already in the game, or present in a Day-1 patch) OR already officially announced before the end of Release Day (like, the official company saying "Look out for Mega Zeraora in 6 months!" etc)
So, if (by the end of release day) a Mega like Mega Zeraora isn't in the game and [Game Freak / The Pokémon Company / Nintendo / Creatures Inc.] hasn't officially announced it's coming later, then it'd resolve NO
@GG Just clarifying, this just means "a Pokémon that hasn't been released yet (i.e. a creature that we've never seen) gets a Mega", right?
@PaintspotInfez Yes, a Pokemon that has not yet been released as of 3/25/2025. Use your own discretion to decide if a new regional form or whatever gimmick they introduce counts as a "new Pokemon".
@Najawin - Ooh, what a fun answer! :D I don't think Floette (the middle evolution) will get a Mega, but I do think the "Eternal Flower" form of Floette will become obtainable. (But, unless something gets labelled as a Mega Evolution, it'll resolve NO.)
@PaintspotInfez That's my guess as well, but if there's ever a middle form that does get a mega, it's probably this.
