The metaverse is a virtual world that is made up of interconnected virtual worlds. It is still in its early stages of development, but it has the potential to become a major social platform. If the metaverse becomes mainstream, it could have a significant impact on the way we interact with each other and the way we consume content.
Potential reasons for it happening:
The technology for the metaverse is rapidly developing.
There is a growing demand for virtual social experiences.
Big tech companies are investing heavily in the metaverse.
Potential reasons for it not happening:
The technology for the metaverse may not be ready by 2030.
There may not be enough demand for virtual social experiences.
Big tech companies may not be able to overcome the challenges of developing and maintaining the metaverse.
Overall, the chances of the metaverse becoming a mainstream social platform by 2030 are good. However, there are still some challenges that need to be overcome before this can happen.
@TamarSpoerri I would consider a user base of 100 million users to be mainstream. Just using all the tools at my disposal ❤
@RobbyKelly I noticed you’re a new user to the site. Welcome! Some unsolicited advice:
To increase the probability that people will trade on your market, shorten the description and add in specific resolution criteria. So 100 million users by 2030 is a great start, but where will you get the numbers from? Which platforms are considered “the metaverse” for this purpose? Are we relying on the metrics they publish? What if they don’t publish any?
@RobbyKelly According to mmostats, the combined numbers for minecraft, roblox and vrchat are 290 + 52 + 8.2 million (350.2). If none of those count as metaverse, I don't know what else would in my lifetime.
