Update 2025-26-01 (PST) (AI summary of creator comment): - Present refers to the main time periods in Season 2.
If events overlap with previous seasons, assign them to the season they primarily belong to.
Only the long periods primarily belonging to Season 2 are considered as part of the present.

Stairwell of the severed floor is not considered the surface

@traders I feel like this should resolve to NO, because the stairwell of the severed floor is not the surface. Any arguments against?
I think this better parses as "Is it revealed to people on the surface that Gemma/Ms Casey is alive" - i.e. the ambiguity at the end of season 1 is resolved and Devon/OMark/Ricken learn Ms Casey is alive" - but even if it's your parsing, I think the surface here includes everything outside of the severed floor and not below it.
@extrasensory_homunculus agreed here, if Gemma were revealed to be alive some place with elevation lower than lumon like in the basement of some other building I would interpret this to be a YES as long as that place does not trigger the innie switch. so I don't see why a lumon staircase would be different
@TonyGao disagree on resolving "the board speaks to mark". If it turns out that the board is just jame Eagan in the room where he was observing cold harbor then he did speak to mark but we just don't know yet that he's the board
@Cactus I think this is a stretch because even if he is on the board or even the entire board, when he speaks to Mark it's as himself and not in his capacity as a board member.

What happens if Helena gets pregnant but doesn't give birth this season?
First of all, is this limited to just things that happen or are revealed in Season 2? You haven't stated.
Gemma/Mrs. Casey's outie is revealed to be alive on the surface
Alive when exactly? Let's say for instance that in the season 2 finale, Gemma is revealed to be dead at that moment, but it's also revealed that she was alive up until some point in the story. At which points will that resolve YES or NO?
@TonyGao Let's say 75% of the season 2 finale is a flashback, to a point mid-season-2, in which Gemma is alive. And then she dies, onscreen, during that flashback. Is this a NO?
@TonyGao Ok. I would have guessed "no" from your previous comment; "present" is not well-defined for a TV show
@marvingardens it's basically that season 2 will probably have one or maybe two particular time periods for which the majority of the season occurs in. some may overlap with previous seasons and in those case you decide if it belongs more to one season or another. anyways, those long periods belonging primarily to season 2 = 'present'
