The striking dockworkers are demanding a total ban on port automation. When the strike ends, will they have received any concessions that direction, relative to the status quo ante?
They have rejected an offer that would have kept the automation limits from their previous contract. If they were to accept that offer, this would be a NO. Any offer that restricts automation more severely than the previous contract is a YES. An early retirement package for dockworkers put out of a job by automation (which is what happened when the Rotterdam port was automated) is a NO.
If the strike is ongoing at the end of the year, I will extend the deadline.
