"evergreen" has layers of personal meaning to me, and I think that makes it cool:

• evergreen as in the Evergreen State (Washington, where I've spent most of my life)

• evergreen as in evergreen trees - I just think evergreen conifers in particular are pretty rad

• evergreen as in ever green - i.e. always dedicated to green politics/the environment. Also I just like the color green because plants are pretty.

• evergreen also starts with the same letter/sound as my Actual Name (Emily) as well as "Emerald," which is the name of the first Pokémon game I ever played and part of the nickname of Seattle (the Evergreen City,) where I've spent a plurality of my life (fun fact: I've never spent more than 10 years living in the same city, and never more than 8 consecutively. The soonest I could break the record by living for 9+ consecutive years in one city is 2032, but it most likely won't happen until around 2038-2040. Yay for moving around a lot as a kid and then going into academia...)

• As I've mentioned occasionally elsewhere on the site, I have DID and "the Evergreen Forest" is a very fitting/cool name for my system. This has nothing to do with why I picked this name (I picked the name "evergreen" years before I found out about my DID) but I think it makes my name even cooler regardless

I've been going by "evergreen" online since late 2015 and I regret nothing. It's basically my second name at this point (though as a username, it's basically always taken, so I have to do variations on it and hope people just call me "evergreen" as shorthand/a nickname - usually, they do.)
