This market resolves YES if I am asked to tip at the general checkout of a grocery store before 2027. This market resolves NO if not, and it should never resolve NA.

Personal Details:
I mostly live in different places on the west coast of the USA and likely will until 2027.

I principally shop at Aldi's, Trader Joe's, Grocery Outlet, Sprouts, Metropolitan Market, Safeway, Vons, and Target.
I prefer the self-checkout aisle.

Change title to "before 2027"?

Asked by a written sign, an employee, a fellow shopper, or anyone? (I'm guessing a written sign or an employee would be in the spirit of the question, whereas if you have a friend who tries to convince you to tip for some reason, that wouldn't count, even if you do end up tipping in that particular circumstance.

@kenakofer For it to qualify it would need to happen at point of checkout from the store. If there was an official sign for tips, this would qualify, but I likely will ask employees about whether it is intentional or not.

Does a self-checkout screen asking you to donate to the grocery store's chosen charity (eg. Would you like to donate 51¢ to ____ by rounding up your purchase from $4.49 to $5?) count as asking for a tip?

@puffymist No, it needs to be directed toward the employees.
