China tends to block many western AIs, such as ChatGPT and Claude, which are not available without a VPN in China.
However, for some reason, Pi, developed by Inflection, is not blocked by China, despite being based in California and the UK, with capabilities comparable to OpenAI's ChatGPT (gpt 3.5). I am not sure why and this seems extremely abnormal in the context of China's restrictive censorship.
Will China block it indefinitely, or will they leave it unblocked?
Temporary bans, such as those temporary wide-ranging bans on foreign websites on National's Day or other sensitive dates, will not count towards resolution. Pi must be blocked for more than 7 days. I may reopen or reresolve this market if it is later known that Pi was only temporarily blocked for reasons not specific to Pi.
Anyone has a guess about why China hasn't blocked pi.ai despite blocking many other AI companies?
