Do ems count?

I didn't think of this.
I think we should count only biological humans because it is the more literal meaning of "human".

I don't see any valid reason why I should not consider a sufficiently faithful emulation as human.

I was thinking that "human" currently refer to a biological species, and so without more precision I thought it was better to not include emulations for this market.
But if you think it is better to include them, I am ok with it, I mostly don't have opinion on it.

It is our minds that make us human, not our biology.

Previously we thought it was a "spirit" that gave us a mind, and that set us apart from animals.

Then Darwin messed that whole story up, and now we know that the mind is just the brain, which of course is biological.

But this seems contingent and not a logical necessity; what matters about a person to make them them is their (embodied) mind.

I "think" our minds make us people, and our biology make us human.
If we meet some intelligent extra-terrestrial live psychologically very similar from us , we would consider them people, but not really human.

Exactly. A sufficiently faithful emulation of you won't be alien - it will be just like you were at the point of copy.
