Context: After years of decline in Malaria due to intense global efforts, in 2020 the amount of Malaria cases increased for the first time, mostly due to disruptions caused by COVID-19. 2021 figures show a small decline from that. 2022 and 2023 data has not yet been released. There's recently been a lot of concern over possible increases in Malaria that are driven by climate change as well as an invasive mosquito, Anopheles stephensi, which reached Africa lately.
