I will consider the question to have resolved positively if any of the following conditions are met:

  1. >20% of Jeff Bezos' donations go towards projects relating to cost-effective global poverty reduction.

  2. >20% of Jeff Bezos' donations go towards projects relating to animal welfare

  3. >20% of Jeff Bezos' donations go towards projects relating to existential risk reduction

This question is a bit difficult for me to operationalize, if someone has ideas for better operationalizations please share them.

Two questions:

  1. Are the numbers what he donates to public? Which source are you using?

  1. What if he splits and spends 10% on each of them?

Another question, if he spends >20% on life extension/longevity will that count? If successful it would save 36M+ lives a year and an incredible amount of DALYs (essentially curing all diseases in the end). But it's not about poverty, animals, or existential risk (unless birth rates plummet and we face existential societal collapse or something?)

predicts NO

@MattBrooks I will not consider work on life extension/longevity to count.

If climate change counts as " projects relating to existential risk reduction" then this is obvious. Should you clarify what counts for existential risk projects?

@MattBrooks Any climate projects focused on preventing tail-end outcomes I'll consider it as existential risk projects, projects focused more broadly on co2 reduction in general I won't.
