Will German far-right party AfD (Alternative for Deutschland) be banned by the German government? The party is 21% in opinion polls, and has been rising in popularity. Given, to put it lightly, the controversial history of far-right politics in Germany, will the government follow through on its alleged consideration of a ban. This question will close in 2030.

Just to clarify: The German government cannot ban political parties. It (along with the two chambers of Parliament) can ask the Federal Constitutional Court to ban a party (although it might well reject the motion, as it did twice with the NPD). Is the question about a German government filing an application with the Constitutional Court, or about the Court actually banning the AfD?
